Seriously Solo
world premiere
IINTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED CHOREOGRAPHER ROBERT SHER-MACHHERNDL DELIVERS A NEW POP-UP PERFORMANCE SERIOUSLY SOLO, THE SECOND PART IN A TRILOGY OF DISTINCTIVELY INNOVATIVE SOLO WORKS. HE TAKES THE AUDIENCE ON A PERSONAL AND EMOTIONAL JOURNEY REFLECTING THE VISION OF HIS SOUL.
SERIOUSLY SOLO JUXTAPOSES CONTEMPORARY BALLET, PEDESTRIAN MOVEMENT AND HUMAN GESTURE. IT REFLECTS UPON THE HUMAN CONDITION, EXAMINING THEMES OF ALIENATION, ISOLATION AND CONNECTION.
“Mr. Sher-Machherndl’s language mixes snippets of textbook ballet with pedestrian movement and a more voluptuous, organic combination of phrasing and inscrutable gestures … he allows plenty of space and time to breathe.”
The New York Times
Performance is followed by a conversation with choreographer Robert Sher-Machherndl, arts writer Deanne Gertner and members of the audience.
